Optimisation of the organisation of freight logistics

The objective of this Work Package is to optimise the organisation of freight logistics through a cooperation between ports and by incorporating new logistic concepts. Cooperative innovative logistics concepts, such as regional container transport, ask for a cooperative organisation. Cooperation will allow growth in scale, offer better services and lead to a greater efficiency.

To come to a modal shift, innovations are needed, like regional (short distance) container transport, navigation on small waterways and innovative self-unloading vessels. CCP21 wants to invest in facilitating the successful implementation of these new logistic concepts. Inland ports, sea ports, transport companies, customers, different municipalities and regional authorities will be involved. A business concept will define the relations between these actors and a business case will serve as a test, based on a specific situation.
